The key to someone showing up on a Smart List is that they need to meet ALL the filter criteria. If they DO, they'll show up on that list. If they DON'T, they won't.
Let's take this real client example... they snail mail out a newsletter, so they want the people on that Smart List to meet 4 criteria...
1) Their street address is not empty (because they wouldn't be able to send anything if it was)
2) The person is not tagged "no hard copy" (because that's how this organization opts people out of getting a snail mail version)
3) They are tagged "active-2022" (because that's how this organization indicates that someone is a member for the current year)
4) They are not tagged "deceased" (because obviously we don't want to mail to those folks)
If someone is in the database and meets ALL FOUR of these filters, they will show up on the Smart List. If even one of the criteria is not met, they will not.
So the way to get someone on this list is to make sure that they have an address, they are not tagged "no hard copy", they are tagged "active-2022" and they are not tagged "deceased".
